Farmers’ yield in Davao are expected to get a big boost agrarian reform beneficiary organizations (ARBOs) received P25 million worth of farming equipment that will help them with processing their harvest.
Among the farm machinery included in the package are 22 light-duty shredders, 14 floating tillers, nine rice threshers, two power tillers, one corn Sheller, two units 120-horse power heavy tractors, two units 90 horse-power heavy tractors and five units 35-horse power tractors.
These machines are expected to help the 37 ARBOs improve their production, and thereby improve their income.
“These mechanized farm implements will greatly increase farmers’ yield. And if their yield is bigger, their household income would be bigger too. The ARBOs’ actual need for these farm machinery and equipment had been determined earlier and validated by a third-party state university commissioned by the DAR for this purpose,” DAR-Davao Regional Director John Maruhom said.
Prior to the delivery of the farm equipment to the beneficiaries, the machines were inspected and tested to ensure that they will serve their purpose and meet the needs of the farmers on the field.
ARBOs also underwent seminars on the proper handling and management of the machines that are expected to gradually modernize farming practices in the regions. (By: Angel Ong)
