Advocating organic farming through IG

Ilocos Sur Vice Governor DV Savellano is urging more people to raise native pigs, citing that their meat, especially those that are grown organically, is healthier than those grown from commercial feeding.

In his Instagram post, the public servant and organic farming advocate said:

“Healthy eating is a key factor to healthy living. The meat of the native pig organically grown is more healthful than those of foreign breeds raised through commercial feeding, growth hormones, and antibiotics.”

He further said that native black pigs are also more economical and less taxing to maintain.

“Let us therefore raise native pigs for healthy living. Native black pigs rely heavily on readily available grasses, kitchen leftovers that is healthy economics too for the raisers,” he added.

In another post, the public servant pushed the propagation of sugarcane and S grass to boost the income of farmers across the Philippines.

“Who says our country cannot have the greenest pasture? Literally and figuratively massive propagation of the sugarcane like grass or S grass which is nutritious forage helps livestock farmers. Raising the income of farmers produces a long chain reaction that unleashes the full potentials of the country.” (ANGEL ONG)
