Agriculture primed to grow by 3% in 2016
Coming from a negligible growth in 2015, the agriculture sector is now being primed to recover and grow somewhere between 3 percent and 3.5 percent this year.
And as ambitious as it may seem, the government already took into account the perceived effect of prolonged El Niño upon giving that target.
The Department of Agriculture (DA) Secretary Proceso Alcala said the agency is hoping that the agriculture sector would grow by 3 percent to 3.5 percent in 2016, even if it means coming from a low base or a mere growth of 0.11 percent last year.
