How to eat balut? Ask this Dumaguete cop
A photo of a tourist police in Dumaguete city teaching foreign visitors how to eat balut, or boiled duck egg, is going viral on Facebook.
The Negros Oriental Provincial Police Office Tourist Police Unit posted two pictures of a certain PO3 Adling on the social media network demonstrating to two foreigners how to crack open a balut.
PO3 Adling was shown standing at an opened door of a white van while the tourists—delegates in the ASEAN Tourism Forum (ATF)—looked on.
Whether or not the foreigners like its taste, is a mystery though. However, balut is one popular Pinoy street food that most foreigners find very unusual.
More often that not, foreign tourists, especially from Western countries, are usually dared to a ‘balut-eating’ contest whenever visiting the Philippines. But a boiled duck embryo is commonly consumed anywhere in the country and in other parts of Asia as well. (Ched Romulo)
