DA crafts location-specific farming map
The Department of Agriculture is crafting an integrated map that would guide farmers on what and when to plant based on climate conditions in their lands.
In the statement, DA’s Climate Change Office director Alicia Ilaga said the project involves monitoring the impact of temperature and rainfall changes, weather extremes and hazards down to the barangay-level.
“Using integrated weather trends, we can analyze the [farm] technology suitable in certain land and weather conditions,” Ilaga said.
Once the trends and threats are analyzed, she said technologies and measures could be applied to a certain location.
