McDonald’s expansion plan hinges on BPOs
Golden Arches Development Corp., operator of the McDonald’s fast food chain in the Philippines, has a unique strategy for the 40 new branches that it plans to open this year.
Malaya Business Insight revealed that McDonald’s Philippines plans to put up stores in areas where there are a lot of business process outsourcing (BPO) companies so that it has a guaranteed 24-hour daily clientele.
McDonald’s is aiming to hit 500 stores this year. It has 460 stores so far.
“As the BPO (business process outsourcing) centers grows, we’ll also grow with them. Wherever they are located, we’re also looking to be opening stores there,” said Kenneth Yang, Golden Arches president and chief executive officer, was quoted as saying.
He said more branches will be opened in Visayas and Mindanao, where more BPO companies are locating, but a lot would still be built in Metro Manila.
He said some of the new stores will be located in shopping malls.
