Palawan fishermen to learn sardine-making
Agriculture Secretary Proceso Alcala said Palawan fishermen will be taught how to process their catch into sardines and dried fish to maximize the value to their catch.
Alcala recently turned over more than P35 million worth of agriculture and fisheries support to farmers and fishermen in Roxas City and Narra town in Palawan.
He also launched the Community Fish Landing Center (CFLC) in Antipuluhan in Narra town, which will serve as a hub for landing and trading of fish and other seafood, as well as training center for fish processing, value adding, and conservation and protection of fisheries resources.
The items Alcala distributed include 10 units of pump and engine, two motorized fiberglass boats and 20 5HP marine engines.
He also inaugurated the P6-million KOICA Rice Processing Complex in Barangay Poblacion.
