PHL bans poultry from Tripura, India
THE Philippine government has imposed a temporary ban on the importation of poultry and poultry products from Tripura, India, after an outbreak of the highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) virus was confirmed in the area.
Agriculture Secretary Proceso J. Alcala authorized the temporary ban through Memorandum Order 5, after the Ministry of Agriculture in India reported the outbreak.
The official report was submitted by Ashok Kumar Angurana, secretary of the Department of Animal Husbandry, Dairying and Fisheries of the Ministry of Agriculture, to the Office International Des Epizooties on January 19.
