Best of the East and West in Madrid Fusion Manila
The second edition of Madrid Fusion Manila, the international gastronomic congress, opens today and will run until April 9 at the SMX Convention Center Manila SM Mall of Asia Complex.
Organizers and participating chefs paid a courtesy call on President Aquino Wednesday.
The event, which seeks to make the Philippines a center of modern gastronomy in Asia, has the theme “Galleon Trade: East Meets West” in celebration of the 450th anniversary of the Manila-Acapulco galleon trade that connected Asia to the Western world.
The best chefs from the East and West will bring their experiences and food during the event.
The month-long “culinary connectedness” will have three major activities: the International Gastronomy Congress; the trade exhibition and Flavors of the Philippines; and a month-long food festival featuring diverse array of exciting food-related activities.
Madrid Fusion Manila is the first and only Asian edition of Madrid Fusion, the most important international gastronomy event in the world and celebrated annually in Madrid since 2003.
Last year, the gastronomy congress gathered 1,381 delegates while the trade exhibition attracted more than 6,000 visitors. An equally exciting and more comprehensive Madrid Fusion Manila awaits gourmet professional aficionados and enthusiasts this year.
