Binaki, organic coffee among Flavors of Northern Mindanao event offerings
CAGAYAN DE ORO’s Hotel and Restaurant Association (COHARA) will hold the Binaki ug Kape Festival on April 21 at the SM City here, as one of two Northern Mindanao events for the month-long Flavors of the Philippines celebration.
Binaki is the local version of steamed cake, with grated young corn, milk, and sugar as basic ingredients. Its variations have meat and spices, and it is wrapped in either corn husk or banana leaf.
COHARA Executive Secretary Nollie S. Arguelles said the region’s version will do away with the savory filling, to make it a perfect accompaniment for locally grown organic coffee.
