Binaki, organic coffee served in CDO festival

Binaki, a steamed cake, and locally grown organic coffee will take center stage on April 21 when Cagayan de Oro’s Hotel and Restaurant Association (COHARA) holds the Binaki ug Kape Festival.

BusinessWorld reported that the festival is one of two Northern Mindanao events that would take place during the month-long Flavors of the Philippines celebration.

Binaki is a steamed cake made with grated young corn, milk, and sugar, and wrapped either in corn husk or banana leaf. Its variations have meat and spices.

COHARA Executive Secretary Nollie Arguelles said they will do away with the savory filling, to make a Binaki that is a perfect accompaniment for locally grown organic coffee.
