Cebu farmers ask for food assistance
Farmers in Cebu City are asking for food assistance as the entire Cebu province started water rationing to cope with a dwindling water supply.
ABS-CBN News reported that farmers in Barangay Sirao in Cebu City are asking the local government for food assistance as most of their fruits have not grown and their vegetables have dried out.
The report said some mountain barangays in the province are having the same experience.
Cebu province has been placed under a state of calamity.
Water production in the province is 200,000 cubic meters as compared to the normal 220,000 cubic meters.
Officials are looking into possible cloud seeding operations or desalination or turning sea water into fresh water to remedy the shortage.
