Don’t forget us, CDO solons tell agri officials
Cagayan de Oro Rep. Rufus Rodriguez and his brother, ABAMIN party list Rep. Maximo Rodriguez Jr., urged the Department of Agriculture and the Bureau on Soil and Water Management (BSWM) to also conduct cloud seeding operations in Cagayan de Oro City.
The Rodriguez brothers, in their resolution, said 15 barangays in their city have already been placed under state of calamity since May 2015 due to the El Niño, with damage to agriculture almost reaching P60 million.
“The BSWM has already conducted cloud seeding operations in different areas for 2016 including Tagbilaran last January 13 and in the Soccsksargen province last January 20,” Rep. Rufus Rodriguez said.
He said the Philippine Air Force has said as early as September last year that it is ready to conduct cloud seeding operations over Cagayan de Oro City.
The resolution was referred to the House Committee on Agriculture and Food chaired by Rep. Mark Llandro Mendoza.
