Balanga holds Organic Farmers’ Market Day
Balanga is actively supporting organic farming efforts.
As a matter of fact, the city is giving an opportunity for organic farmers to showcase their goods at the City Public Market Organic Post where they recently launched the Organic Farmers’ Market Day.
The measure seeks to encourage more farmers to enter into organic farming by providing lectures and presentations to organic participants as part of the event.
The event actually comes at the heels of earlier projects such as Kasama Ani sa Barangay (KaAniB) Program wherein idle lands have been converted into organic farms, the products of which are sold in stalls during Barangay Week.
Among those who attended the event were Mayor-elect Francis Anthony Garcia, Gaudencio Ferrer, provincial board member and chairman of the Committee on Agriculture, Nerissa Mateo, City Agriculturist, DA representatives Dir. Andrew Villacorta and Mr. William Valdez, and City Committee on Agriculture head Anselmo “Elmo” Sanchez, Sr. (By: Angel Ong)
