Chinese stop harassment of Filipino fishermen
Fishermen from Masinloc in Zambales got the surprise of their lives when Chinese fishermen suddenly became friendlier to them and allowed them to fish near Scarborough Shoal.
Interaskyon reported that the change in the Chinese’s treatment of Filipino fishermen happened after incoming president Rodrigo Duterte talked to Chinese ambassador Zhao Jianhua.
Duterte reportedly appealed to China to spare the fishermen, who have been deprived of their traditional fishing grounds for years.
The thankful fishermen reportedly went home with full nets after only four days at sea.
“We really hope this change will be for good,” they said.
Still they said Duterte should recover “what is rightfully ours.”
