Dagupan City milkfish safe for consumption
The Dagupan City government has assured that milkfish being sold in its markets are safe for consumption and that none of those gathered from fish kills are being sold.
The Philippine News Agency, quoting City Agriculture Officer Emma Molina, reported that fish traders are asked to produce auxiliary invoice to make sure milkfish are safe for human consumption.
A big fishkill broke out in western Pangasinan, particularly in the towns of Anda and Bolinao, as an aftermath of the neap tide that last May 18 to 19.
Molina said Dagupan City Mayor Belen Fernandez has ordered that all roads leading to the fish market be monitored 24/7 to ensure that delivery trucks do not bring a single fish that died from the fish kill to Dagupan.
She also said the fish kill has caused only a “slight decrease” in the prices of milkfish.”
