DOST teaches nutritious flour production for disasters
The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) recently introduced the Sagip-Nutri flour as part of its Emergency Food Reserve (EFR) production strategy, which seeks to develop a nutritious emergency food that could be distributed during times of calamity.
The Sagip-Nutri flour is a combination of the powdered cassava, sweet potato, moringa, squash, mungbean and other indigenous crops.
The flour could be made into different food products like noodles, cake, pastries, bread, drink powder, soup, chocolate bars, polvoron and native delicacies.
Making the Sagip-Nutri flour is being taught to micro- and small entrepreneurs as well as government employees.
