Farmers sell CARP lands out of poverty

Some farmer-beneficiaries have sold the lands that government gave them through the agrarian reform program due to lack of money and sickness in the family.

The Philippine News Agency, quoting Department of Agrarian Reform regional director Felix Aguhob, reported that 1,000 farmer-beneficiaries have sold their lands from May 2015 to April 2016.

Aguhob said he signed 1,000 transfer orders during the period, and the lands are in the process of transfer or have been transferred to the buyers.

He said the reasons include lack of money and sickness in the family.

He said the farmer-beneficiaries have been disqualified from the agrarian reform program.

Each of farmer-beneficiary is awarded an average of 1.6 hectares of land to be amortized in 30 years.

This nationwide event has been happening ever since agrarian reform became a law thats why the farmers average has risen to 57yrs old because they and their children prefer to work in the urban areas. Kalokohan lang ang programa na eto para magkapera ang DAR at agrarian reform NGOs.
