Food fair happening at BGC, featuring organic products
Local foodies looking for healthier food options should visit Central Square in BGC this weekend for a three-day food fair, featuring a wide range of organic, natural, indigenous and artisanal food products that are proudly Pinoy.
The Department of Agriculture has teamed up with the SSI Group, Inc. and Central Square to promote the products of Philippine agriculture through The Philippine Harvest, an agri-food fair featuring the country’s rich organic products, said The Standard in a report.
Some of the products include artisanal chocolates, organic rice, coconut, cacao, honey, tabon-tabon, coffee and even organic meat.
The event also aims to promote the exceptional quality of Philippine agricultural products, and how they are as good as international substitutes. In addition, individuals looking for suppliers, farmers and retailers are also encouraged to visit the food fair. DA Undersecretary Bernadette Puyat said in the report, “I encourage everyone to be co-producers; grow some of your own food, eat real food, visit a farm, shake the hand that feeds you, know the story behind the food that you eat, meet your farmers and fisherfolk, learn more about your local or regional food history and cultural dishes. If that’s too much for you, just buy food that supports our local farmers and fisherfolk”.
The Philippine Harvest began May 27, and will conclude May 29. Food fair will be open from 11:00 in the morning until 11:00PM, at lower and upper ground floors of Central Square, BGC.
