Healthy and organic is the way to the US, exporters told
The Export Marketing Bureau (EMB) urged Filipino firms seeking to explore the US market to try manufacturing healthier and organic snacks.
The EMB said Americans are currently very cautious of their health and are opting for healthy snacks that are convenient and readily available.
The Bureau said fresh and processed food are among the most competitive Filipino products in the foreign market.
However, prospective exporters were advised to improve product packaging and safety and to consider online selling.
The Philippines is among the 122 beneficiary countries and territories of the US GSP program, which eliminates duties on about 5,000 types of products when exported to the US.
This allows more local exporters including the micro, small and medium enterprises to expand to the US.
