Importation of poultry products from Spain okayed
The Philippines will import day-old chicks and hatching eggs from Spanish firm Iberica de Tecnologia Avicola, S.A.U (Ibertec) after the Department of Agriculture issued an administrative order allowing Ibertec to export poultry products.
Agriculture Secretary Proceso Alcala gave his approval after the Bureau of Animal Industry (BAI) found “no imminent” risk of avian flu from Ibertec’s farm.
However, the poultry products are still subject to Philippine veterinary quarantine rules.
The go-signal on Ibertec is covered by the guidelines on the importation of agricultural and fishery products, farm inputs, veterinary drugs and biological products into the country.
