Mindanao poultry group upbeat about expansion as members hold summit
CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY — The Mindanao poultry industry is upbeat as its members meet here on May 19 for the 2nd BITRADE Broiler Summit to map out plans for expanding markets and ensuring competitiveness and food security.
Vicente T. Lao, whose company Maharlike Agro-Marine Ventures Corp. is involved in raising ducks and chicken, said the industry has been growing as it takes advantage of its status as being free from the Avian flu virus.
“The industry has provided a good investment opportunity, although both the government and the private sector must work hand in hand in ensuring that it can sustain its growth,” Mr. Lao, also the chair of the Mindanao Business Council, told BusinessWorld.
