Panabo looks to upgrade APTC into full fish port

PANABO CITY — The construction of a P65-million Municipal Fishport in the Mariculture Park area of Brgy. Cagangohan, Panabo, Davao del Norte is hoped to improve the lives of fisherfolk in the area, who are part of one of the most marginalized sectors in the country.

Fish cages at the park are harvested only when there are buyers and the harvested products are landed, sorted, weighed and recorded at the Agri-Pinoy Trading Center (APTC).

Panabo’s APTC, which opened in 2011, is only a temporary facility made of coco lumber. While it is still serviceable, its operations take a structural toll. Once improvements have been made, it will be called the Panabo City Fish Port.
