Private pig dispersal in Jala-jala, Rizal

A multi-purpose cooperative in Bulacan has launched early this year its pig dispersal project in Jala-jala, Rizal in a bid to provide a new source of income for families who cannot put up their own pig projects due to limited resources.

The proponent is the Kooperatibang Pangkabuhayan ng Sta. Maria, Bulacan which is affiliated with Agrichexers, a major feed milling company in Sta. Maria, Bulacan headed by Gil SP Garcia.

The scheme has been implemented for a number of years now in Bataan, Pampanga, Zambales, Cavite, Batangas and elsewhere. Under the scheme, the cooperating farmer provides the simple housing for the pigs plus his labor. On the part of the co-op, it provides the weanlings, the feeds from start to finish, medicines and vitamins and the technical assistance to make sure the farmers are guided properly in taking care of the fatteners.
