Adobo served up at Germany’s world eats fair
It was Germany’s turn to get a taste of adobo, lumpia and samalamig as Filipino caterers showcased Philippine food at the recent “Deli Canto 2016: Here the World Eat.”
The yearly event featured food and souvenirs from around 50 countries in what is dubbed a meeting place for nations and generations.
The Philippine booth featured Filipino caterers from Pinoy Restaurant (by Rosalinda Nolasco-Jecht) and Wild Reis (by Kay Alave and Minet de Asis).
The Pinoy booth’s culinary artillery to its international audience included pancit guisado (fried noodles), rice cakes, lumpia (crispy rolls filled with minced meat, vegetables and spices) with sweet chili dip, and adobo (meat braised in vinegar and soy sauce).
Samalamig, a cold drink with tapioca pearls and gelatin, was offered to refresh guests.
The event was organized under the auspices of the City Foundation Berlin, in cooperation with the office of German Parliament Member Johannes Selle.
