Dale Talde’s tips for perfectly cooked rice
Yes, you do not need a rice cooker to make perfectly cooked rice.
Fil-Am chef Dale Talde shared his secrets to perfectly cooked rice with buzzfeed.com.
Here they are:
1. Always rinse Jasmine rice before cooking.
2. For every cup of rice, you need one cup of water. An equal ratio of rice and water makes perfectly fluffy rice, Dale says.
3. When cooking on a stove, Dale cautions against lifting up the lid. Even after the rice is cooked, don’t open the lid until after some 10 minutes when the rice should have absorbed all the moisture.
4. When cooking fried rice, fry an egg on the pan first. He had no explanation for this one other than that is how it is done in Chinese restaurants. Once, he dared not fry an egg before cooking the rice, all the rice stuck to the pan.
