DAR helps 9 agrarian reform beneficiary groups to qualify for loans
The Department of Agrarian Reform in Surigao del Norte has helped nine agrarian reform beneficiary organizations qualify for credit assistance under a government program
Government has an agrarian production credit program (APCP) that aims to provide credit assistance to farmer organizations that cannot qualify for loans through the regular lending program of the Land Bank of the Philippines.
DAR first conducted a review and assessment workshop with the agrarian reform beneficiary organizations and helped their members with the documentation before processing their loan documents for the APCP.
Farmers availing of the loan can use the funds to finance the purchase of farm inputs such as growing crops, machines, or for working capital in their agri-enterprises or livelihood projects.
“The program will likewise address the credit needs of existing farmer-beneficiaries who are not yet accessing production loans from formal credit markets,” DAR APCP officer Luningning Ycoy said.
She said data from the workshop will help the department in its capacity building for agrarian reform beneficiary organizations and make them competent credit conduits.
