Davao Agri-Trade Expo aims to double sales in 2016
With the first Mindanaoan President seated, the region is set to reach new heights, starting off with its prospering agriculture sector.
The Davao City Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Inc. (DCCCII) said that they are aiming to double generated sales of exhibitors for this year’s Davao Agri-Trade Expo (Date) 2016 to P168 million, Sun Star Davao reported.
The lead organizer of what has been tagged as the premiere agri-related event in Mindanao region, said that the target can easily be achieved if foot traffic of the event will be met.
“We are positive that we can meet the target, that we can have more visitors, more market for this year,” DCCCII vice president for agribusiness and Date chair Teresita Pascual told reporters during Davao Business Forum at the Dermpath, SM City Davao last Tuesday.
Date 2016 is a once a year flagship event, spearheaded by Davao City Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Inc. (DCCCII) that aims to develop the agriculture industry in Davao Region.
For this year, the event is set to happen on September 22 to 24, 2016 at the SMX Convention Center, SM Lanang Premier, Davao City, the report said.
In 2013, golden crops from Mindanao were highlighted with 63 exhibitors and about 8,000 visitors, generating about Php 84 million sales.
“For this year we will be focusing on financing, processing, marketing and exporting Mindanao’s golden crops — cacao, coffee, coconut, cassava, corn and rice,” said John Carlo Tria, program director of Date 2016.
With the theme ‘Bridging the Gap: Global Opportunities for Mindanao’s Golden Crops’, s total of 136 exhibitors are anticipated to join the event, with about 50-60 participants with confirmed attendance. These include equipment dealers, corporate farms, and manufacturers, among others from all over the country.
