Davao ‘pasalubong’ makers stocking up for tripled demand
Producers of dried fruits and candies in Davao City are working double time to stock up in preparation for at least a triple demand because of the Duterte fever during the Kadayawan Festival on August 15-21.
Sunstar reported that the election of former Davao City mayor Rodrigo Duterte to the presidency has drummed up interest in the City among local and foreign tourists, who would buy native products.
Vina Reuyan, marketing officer of the Food Processors Association of Davao, was quoted as saying that the Pasalubong Center, a one-stop shop for processed food and non-food products, is officially one of the go-to destinations of domestic and foreign tourists.
Their most prized products include dried durian and the durian chips, dried guyabano, dried papaya, dried pineapple, dried jackfruit, dried banana chips, and fruit concentrates.
