Going organic: Itogon, to support local organic agriculture

Itogon officials believe so.
Officials in Itogon, Benguet recently made a move to promote organic agriculture in the province.
To support the emerging trend of living a healthy lifestyle, Itogon officials made a measure to allocate an amount to encourage organic agriculture programs, activities and projects in the town, Manila Times reported.
Itogon Ordinance No. 68 series 2015 offers that at least 5% from the 20% development fund will be assigned for organic agriculture.
The measure will be implemented at the local level Republic Act 10068 or the Organic Agriculture Act of 2010.
This will also form a part of the local development plan, investment plan and annual investment plan of the town.
The communal irrigation system, organic farming practitioners support and subsidy assistance, organic farming facilities, water supply system to organic farm areas, equipment and materials, post-harvest equipment/facilities, development of farm-to-market access road/trail, and multi-purpose drying pavement will be prioritized for the project, Manila Times said.
