Jollibee opens first Midwest restaurant in Skokie, Illinois
The Philippines’ largest fast food chain, Jollibee, opened its first restaurant in the US’ Midwest in Skokie, Illinois last Friday, NBC Chicago reported.
According to Wikipedia, Skokie is a village in Cook County, Illinois, a Chicago suburb that promoted itself as “The World’s Largest Village.” Based on a 2010 census, its population was 64,784.
NBC described Jollibee as an “eclectic eatery” that opened with a lot of fan-fare. It said the company planned on giving away Jollibee mascots to the first 300 people who fall in line.
Based on the 2010 census, about a fourth of Skokie’s population is Asian.
The Skokie branch is Jollibee’s 34th restaurant in the US.
