NamNam Noodle Bar arrives in PH
Yearning for Pho and Banh mi? This newly opened restaurant would surely satiate your cravings.
NamNam Noodle Bar, a restaurant renowned for its delicious pho and banh mi has finally arrived in the Philippines, ABS-CBN reported.
The restaurant, which was originally based in Singapore and Indonesia, would be renaming its brand in the Philippines, due to trademark issues. NamNam will be called “Annam” in the Philippines, and is situated at 1880 Building in Eastwood Avenue, Quezon City.
Apart from its name, the food, service and interiors also undergone an overhaul. Restaurant goers would no longer have to line up and order at the counter, and the restaurant’s ambiance is more urban as compared to Singapore’s semi-enclosed, semi-open branches.
Flavors of their menu offerings, ABS-CBN said, were also made bolder to match the Filipino palate. Chef Nam, the Vietnamese owner who flew to Manila for the opening day, said that spice levels were also toned down for its Filipino outlets.
“I realized that our food is not that bold, the taste is not enough. Filipinos want something really hearty and really bold… So we used a lot of beef bones from the local market to make our soups more solid. We also added some fat,” he told ABS-CBN.
“When we cook, we want to make sure that it’s al dente. In some Vietnamese restaurants, the noodles are too soft because they use fresh noodles,” he said “But for me, I grew up 20 years in Europe and I prefer texture. So that’s the reason we bring our noodles here”, he added.
