Negros Occidental levels up cattle breeding through embryo transfer
Negros Occidental will level up its cattle genetics and production with the ongoing construction of a Breeding and Semen Processing Center at the Negros First Ranch in Barangay Sta. Rosa, Murcia.
Sunstar reported that the facility will enable the province’s veterinarians to conduct “embryo transfer.”
The report quoted provincial veterinarian Renante Decena as saying that embryo transfer will allow 30 embryos to be extracted from a cow and transplanted to 20 other cattle, instead of only one calf during the natural process.
The center costs P8 million, including P5 million for the equipment.
Provincial officials have gone to General Santos City to learn about the operation of a breeding and semen processing facility.
