New Zealand samples lechon, melon juice
The Philippine embassy in Wellington introduced Filipino food to the Kiwis during the “Taste of Home” Philippine Festival as part of the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the Philippines and New Zealand last July 23.
“Taste of Home” featured popular Filipino dishes like lechón, adobo, pancit, fresh lumpia, barbeque-on-a-stick, siopao, and various native desserts.
The Embassy put together a Filipino menu of adobo, biko, Filipino coconut macaroons, pancit, and grated melon juice.
Domingo told Kiwis, Pinoys and Kiwinoys that Filipino food reflects regional Philippine cuisines as well as Malay, Arab, Indian, Chinese, Spanish and American gastronomical influences.
