Pigging out in Cebu: Lechon Pit at Mactan Alfresco
Wondering where too pig out in Cebu? Well here’s a suggestion on where to pig out, quite literally.
Tourists and locals alike can finally enjoy Cebu’s culinary pride, the lechon at Mactan Alfresco, upon its Lechon Pit launch. Tagged by Time Magazine in 2009 as “world’s best pig”, visitors can devour lechon at its freshest, at Mactan Alfresco, Sun Star Cebu reported.
The Lechon Pit was created as a local attraction where visitors can watch for themselves how this Cebu specialty is made.
“The vision was to showcase lechon cooking. It gives a different angle to the lechon experience. Everybody knows the lechon, but not everybody knows how it is made,” senior assistant vice president and head of marketing and business development of Megaworld Lifestyle Malls, Tefel Pasigan-Valentino said in the report.
Situated at the 350-seater food strip, Mactan Alfresco’s Lechon Pit can accommodate a maximum of 12 roasted lechons at a given time.
Mactan Alfresco is a popular food place in Cebu, which houses 11 of Cebu’s finest dining establishments. Located inside the The Mactan Newtown township, the Mactan Alfresco is the perfect place for an interavtice gasro-adventures for Cebuanos and tourists alike.
Lechon roasting starts at 3 p.m. onward during weekends, Sun Star said.
