Piñol starts personnel overhaul in DA
Agriculture Secretary Manny Piñol issued at least 10 Special Orders on his first day of work, assigning new officers-in-charge in some divisions or bureaus and reassigning some of the department staff.
Except for Special Order No. 625 that maintains Dante Fidel as the officer in charge of the Bureau of Plant Industry, Piñol named eight new officers in charge in key posts. He also reassigned a Joeve S. Calleja to the BPI from the Bureau of Agriculture and Fisheries Standards.
Piñol named Lourdes Plechas and Bella Artieda as the new officers in charge heading the department’s records and personnel divisions, respectively. Their assignments are contained in Special Order No. 617 and 618.
Piñol designated Arnel V. De Mesa as OIC, regional executive director for the Calabarzon regional field office, U-Nichols A. Manalo as OIC chief of the department’s special project coordination and management assistance division under its field operations service.
Piñol names Atty. Beata Humilda Obsioma as OIC executive director of the National Meat Inspection Service, Mark Matubang as OIC, chief of the organic division of the BAFS, and Karen Bautista as OIC executive director of the BAFS.
Piñol had vowed to end corruption in the DA and had tapped a “battery of lawyers” to deal with displaced and disgruntled officials.
