Plant your ‘bahay kubo’ veggies early, farmers told
The Department of Agriculture has released to Abra province P2 million worth of vegetable seeds, and advised farmers to plant them immediately before flood season begins.
The Philippine Information Agency reported that the seeds were dispensed to the province’s 27 towns through the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist.
Seeds distributed were “bahay kubo” ingredients okra, tomatoes, eggplant, and squash, and others like white cabbage.
OIC Provincial Agriculturist Gilbert Barbero was reported as advising farmers to insure their crops through the Philippine Crop Insurance Commission in order to get indemnity in case of losses due to calamities.
