Sulu’s peace brew ends Eid’l Fitr celeb
Robusta coffee from Sulu was the giveaway that guests at the celebration of Eid’l Fitr with the diplomatic corps took home.
Sulu’s pride, coffee that symbolizes peace and progress brewing in the conflict-ridden South, was provided by the Coffee Board of the Philippines.
The diplomatic reception was held by the Department of Foreign Affairs last July 13 at the Samsung Hall of SM Aura Premier in Taguig City.
Foreign Affairs Secretary Perfecto Yasay, Jr., in his message, expressed solidarity with Muslims around the world, especially in light of the recent attacks in Turkey, Bangladesh, Iraq, and Saudi Arabia.
Yasay said there is a need to highlight the advocates of peace in the Mindanao and the spirit of brotherhood and solidarity with Filipino Muslims and Muslims around the world.
The celebration also showcased the richness of Philippine Muslim culture and some of the local industries of Mindanao.
