Swine center opens in Science City of Muñoz
A new research facility has been set up at the Central Luzon State University (CLSU) in the Science City of Munoz, Nueva Ecija for swine production and nutrition.
The center, called La Filipina Swine Research Facility, is a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) between CLSU and Philippine Foremost Milling Corporation (PFMC), a member-firm of La Filipina Uy Gongco Group of Companies (LFUGC).
The research facility will serve as a laboratory where PFMC can do trials while giving CLSU students an actual demonstration on the art and science of swine raising and nutrition.
PMFC is the maker of local brands Excel Feeds, Amigo, Lechon for Swine, Poultry and Aquatic sector, IC+ and Iron Claw for gamefowl feeds. Its mother company, La Filipina Uy Gongco Corporation, is the largest U.S. Soybean Meal importer in Southeast Asia, the main ingredient in livestock feeds.
CLSU is the lead agency of the Muñoz Science Community and seat of the Regional Research and Development Center in Central Luzon. The CLSU-College of Agriculture is the first agricultural college in the country accredited by the Philippine Accrediting Association of Schools, Colleges and Universities (PAASCU).
