DA recognize South Korea for supporting PH agri
Apart from its iconic music, and K-drama, SoKor also gives joy to the Filipinos through its support for local agriculture.
The technical and market support of South Korea for Philippine agriculture was recognized by DA chief Manny Piñol on Tuesday following the approval of the government of South Korea for the export of poultry products, Manila Times reported.
The DA said that this could lead to the commercial-scale production of organic chicken.
“We can now sell our chicken products to them South Korea since the facilities of the San Miguel Corporation have already been approved and the Province of Maguindanao has started ‘Halal’ chicken production,” the DA Secretary said following a meeting with Kim Jae Shin, Korean Ambassador to the Philippines
“The chicken can be raised, using commercial rearing facilities, but the feeds are totally organic,” Piñol added.
He also said that the all-natural feeds will abide by Halal standard because it will be created by an Islamic engineer, Manila Times said.
Piñol also expressed gratitude to the South Korean government during the meeting for providing market for other local agricultural commodities sourced mainly in Mindanao including bananas and pineapples.
“Investments in Philippine agriculture are very important as it enables us to be competitive with other Asean countries, he said.
“We cannot compete with Vietnam and Thailand in terms of production if the government does not give adequate support,” he explained.
