Extension workers getting back to DA supervision would enhance agri growth
The new chief of the Tacloban DA Regional Field Office VIII (DA RFO-8) is in full hopes that agricultural productivity in the region will be improved with the idea of DA chief Manny Piñol to bring back to DA’s direction all agricultural extension workers (AEWs) who were transferred to local government units, Manila Bulletin said in a report.
The DA RFO 8 head, Dr. Wilson A. Cerbito, DVM, Ph.D., told reporters in the report that agricultural productivity in the region will notably improve once the AEWs return to the supervision of the DA regional office.
Cerbito, who replaced Leo Cañeda upon being appointed by Piñol last month, said the DA RFO 8 currently has no direct supervision and control of the AEWs in the area following the implementation of the Local Government Code of 1992, the report said.
He also explained that the agricultural workers will be getting incentives from his office.
He said in the report that with the implementation of AEWs under DA RFO 8 supervision, the enactment of agricultural programs and projects will be greatly improved.
