Fast food culture blamed for diabetes spread
Many call center employees are prone to become diabetic because of their fast food culture.
Dr. Augusto Litonjua, president of the Philippine Center for Diabetes Education Foundation in an article “6 M Pinoys have diabetes” published in the Philippine Daily Inquirer blamed the fast food culture in the prevalence of diabetes ailment among Filipinos.
Fast food offers calorie-dense food, which leads to obesity and a higher risk for diabetes.
There are at least 6 million Filipinos diagnosed to have diabetes.
According to Litonjua, for every person diagnosed to have diabetes, there is one person suffering from diabetes but has not yet been diagnosed.
