Fish landing center rises in Basilan
Construction of the P3-million Community Fish Landing Center (CFLC) in Tabuan Lasa town in Basilan has started following this week’s ground breaking.
The Philippine News Agency reported that the project, which is funded by the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources, will serve as the business center of the community and nearby areas.
“The fishermen will no longer need to bring and sell their catch in another place. All they have to do is to bring the catch and sell here,” Alano Alihuddin, Basilan provincial fishery officer of BFAR-ARMM, was quoted as saying.
“This center will also serve as the buying center of the fish traders. They can directly come here to purchase and ship out the fish and possibly other marine products,” he added.
Five more CFLCs will be constructed in Basilan: Langil Island in Mohammad Ajul; Upper Bato-Bato in Akbar; Atong-Atong in Lantawan; Ungkay Pukan; and Tipo-Tipo.
