Pampanga fishpond operators seek help vs flooding

The Pampanga provincial government vowed to provide fish pond operators with a dredger to help lessen flooding in their areas, which would affect its aquaculture industry.

The Philippine Information Agency reported that Gov. Lilia Pineda, in a meeting with fish pond operators from Macabebe and Masantol, assured the provincial government’s assistance in scraping fishpens. The dredger is worth P200 million.

The fish pond operators told Pineda that several villages in Masantol will become flooded because of the expected heavy rains in the coming months.

They also said the Pampanga Delta Development Project II (PDDP-II) could aggravate flooding in their areas.
