Pork, chicken inventory thinner in July
The country’s frozen pork inventory in July reached 17,240.86 metric tons, slightly lower than the 17,442.69 MT in June, according to the National Meat Inspection Service (NMIS).
The inventory included stocks in accredited commercial and accredited commercial and in-house cold storage in slaughterhouse and meat processing plants.
In terms of dressed chicken, NMIS data showed that July inventory reached 8,606.32 MT, lower compared to the 18,322 MT stocks in the previous month.
Imported pork under the minimum access volume (MAV) of the World Trade Organization are slapped with 30 percent duty and 40 percent outside of MAV. As for imported chicken, it is slapped with 40 percent duty.
