They’re raising pekin ducks in the Visayas

Negros Occidental is revving up its production of pekin duck as part of its five-year animal development plan.

The Philippine News Agency reported that six cities and municipalities, and two other localities availed of the P2.7-million funding for the construction of pekin duck production centers.

They are Hinoba-an, Hinigaran, Salvador Benedicto, Binalbagan and Toboso, along with Cadiz and San Enrique.

The pekin duck production centers are worth P300,000 each.

The initial duck stocks will be used first for breeding, after which the raisers will pay back the province and disperse the new stocks to others in their localities.
