Tilapia ice cream bags gold in international food expo
Apart from the recent win in the Olympics and Hip Hop International, Pinoys are also taking over the global food scene with our very own Tilapia Ice Cream.
Daerrys Tilapia Ice Cream recently bagged the gold at the Salon International de L’Agroalimentaire (SIAL) ASEAN Manila 2016, lifting the identity of Philippine cuisine in international food scene competition, Philippine Star reported.
Daerrys is a product of the research and development arm of the Central Luzon State University (CLSU). The famous tilapia ice cream will grace the international events of SIAL including its event in Paris in October; Jakarta in November, Abu Dhabi in December, and Canada and China, in May next year, the report said.
SIAL is the world’s biggest food innovation expo, which intends to encourage individuals taking part in the food sector to come up with resourceful and groundbreaking food products. The tilapia ice cream outdone 350 exhibitors from about 25 countries from all over Asia.
The product can be bought at Chives Cafe and Patisserie, in CLSU. The café also offers tilapia ice cream sansrival, tilapia ice cream sandwich and tilapia ice cream praline crunch, served with caramelized tilapia flakes, the report said.
