Agriwatch sees ‘bonanza’ in lifting of Chinese trade barriers
Agriwatch chairman Ernesto Ordonez said Filipino farmers are in for a “bonanza” with China’s lifting of trade barriers on Philippine agricultural exports.
ABS-CBN reported Ordonez as saying that every P1 earned by Chinese from exports to the Philippines equals P40 from Philippine exports to China.
Ordonez was interviewed on ANC’s “Market Edge with Cathy Yang.”
“It will be bonanza for the Philippines. We can feed them, (the Philippines has) 103 million people), they are 1.3 billion,” he said.
China has lifted trade restrictions on Philippine bananas and pineapples. It will also open up its market to mangoes, coconuts and seafood.
