Chef Anton wins “Food Hero Asia” grand prize
Manila-based Chef Anton Amoncio bagged the grand prize in the “Food Hero Asia” grand finals held in Singapore on Thursday.
The 27-year-old chef’s management firm Asian Artists Agency announced the good news late Thursday night, Inquirer reported.
Chef Anton takes part as a new host for several programs shown on Asian Food Channel (AFC) and The Food Network channel, as part of his winning prize.
It was the chef’s Cheesy Lamb Rack Kaldereta that made him won the title. The dish bested the entries of three other finalists from other Southeast Asian countries, the report said. Apart from his new hosting gig, the title also comes with a US$5,500 worth of travel vouchers.
He was selected as one of the finalists when he showed videos of his signature Filipino dishes “Tinola” and “Fried Chicken Adobo sa Gata”.
“Tinola”, Inquirer said, is a dish close to the chef’s heart because it is what his “recovery soup’, which hi sgrandmother cooked for him every time he was sick. He said his grandmother is his “food hero.”
