Fish kill reported in Lake Sebu
A fish skill recently struck Lake Sebu in South Cotabato on Thursday, affecting an estimated 200 fish cages in the area.
GMA News reported that according to authorities pointed the sudden decline of oxygen level in the lake, caused by shifting weather and temperature conditions as the cause of the fish kill.
Local caretakers in the area tried to make use of the dead fish to produce tuyo or dried fish.
Support from government was sought by fish farm owners to help them recover from bankruptcy, the report said.
Lake Cebu, a natural lake recognized as an important watershed, is situated in situated in Alah Valley region in the southwestern part of South Cotabato province.
